Why Alderaan?

category: animation/parody

Ah yes, the age old question... Why did Grand Moff Tarkin choose Alderaan to blow to smithereens first? Why didn't he prefer another target, a military target perhaps? After all, Alderaan was defenseless, it had no weapons. But it had something just as insidious... critics.

This animated short works on a one joke premise and while it delivers it okay, it runs a little long for the one joke it contains. The animation itself is stylized and simple, but servicable if not terribly impressive. The script is funny, but the timing seems a bit off. It moved a bit sluggishly and I felt myself urging it to get on with it already.

The director recommends downloading it and then watching it off your computer instead of watching it on the web, which is a good suggestion. The audio didn't match the action when I watched it off the web.

All in all, a mediocre parody with a few chuckles in it. Oh dear, was I just being a critic? I have a bad feeling about this.
