Two brothers - one a rogue and a scoundrel, the other a straight shooting Jedi - join forces to uncover a sinister plot close to the core of the Republic. Let's throw in a street fight, some ships shooting at each other, and a holovid from a certain Sith Lord. How much more do you need?
The Vorzyd Gambit is a very enjoyable fan film with some lovely special effects and a better than average plot, in as much as it actually has one. The computer generated environments are well done, though I was constantly aware of the fact that that was exactly what they were. The dependence on cgi wears a little thin as the movie goes on. Sometimes the lighting on the actors obviously doesn't match the background. The design choices, from costumes to starships, are well done and doesn't simply mimic the original movies, but goes beyond them.
The acting is a bit wooden and the script needs some work. In one scene the aide of the bad guy baron welcomes our protagonists as "gentiles." What's with that? The plot, though, fits neatly into the existing saga and adds to it.
